This article will help you define your digital cameras strategy for the organization of your photos folder and it will show as an example my current strategy. No more lost photos,The top digital cameras strategies and organization Articles find it forever!

The photos can be organized in various ways and levels. You can organize your images at the level of storage system (in most cases, hard drive) by defining naming scheme for directories and / or file names. A second way is to level metadata using an application or software that allows you to edit the image data. In my case I organize my pictures of both.

Photographs and directory structure

For years, computers have used the file system or folders to help users organize and find data or documents stored on the computer. A directory is the organization of the folders or files in hierarchical order. Organization is a type of tiered storage based on digital cameras files that start at one and continues with a file inside the other.  From the organizational point of view is not the best methods and highly limiting. Just imagine how many subdivisions of folders could handle may have and be comfortable-not too little truth!

Also, they have an organization that relies on image information or a directory structure of folders is an organizational system fragile. If for example you move an image from one file to another would lose connection and dependence of the structure and thus part of the vital information for your system.

The use and purpose of the file or folder is merely a tool storage and organization system. This does not mean that it is important to your organization but its organizational role is secondary, primary is a container that you used to store, separate, support and validate the images.

Most digital cameras organizational directories should be: stable and expandable. You should not change with time, one must grow or expand. Instead of having a folder inside another and this in turn into another, use files grouped on the same hierarchical level.

First we make a clear division between the physical and original images and those derived from them. It is good practice (and in my opinion has to be so) to separate the original images other images that originate from these for various reasons - security and integrity of the original digital cameras files, easy to create backups, easily in the data migration to new technology among others.
