While fewer things are easier to find, and easier to get lured into buying, than a new mobile phone, there are several factors you need to keep in mind before purchasing one. While some mobile phones bristle with features, and others look stylish, and others take pictures, you need one that combines quality, service and durability.

If you are at a mobile phone store, do not just take the salespersons word for what the best phone is. Try them out for yourself and compare price, reliability of service, and durability of the phone itself. Having Internet access will not help you if the service quality is not any good in the part of town where you live.

The Internet is another good place to shop for your new mobile phone and cheap cell phones. Looking online, you can compare the different calling plans that each provider gives. You can compare features among all the different phones that each company offers. Companies will often give their best deals online, because they’re not having to pay a salesperson a commission to work with you.

If you live in a large city, where quality of service is not likely to be a problem, the Internet can actually be the best place to purchase a mobile phone. Shipping often comes the next day, and rebates are often credited instantly to your credit card account right after you purchase, instead of having to wait for a rebate to come 6-8 weeks later.

The most important comparison you can do online is between the individual phones. You can compare prices and features, but you should also compare customer reviews – most company websites will have customer feedback for most of their models, and you can read how those phones have worked for others.

Also, consider: what kind of features do you want, is text messaging important, do you need a calendar or a planner, is Internet access important and do you want to be able to download and listen to music on your phone. Comparison shopping online will help you find the best cell phone for your money. Some of us may still like the traditional shopping a the physical location of the store where you can actually see the phone and where the salesman can tell you about it. Money is not necessarily the only consideration.

There are some many features on cell phones today that it is a wonder that they do not walk and talk and cook you dinner. Some of us may just want a durable phone that will last a long time and that will be reliable and not break down. From my experience the phones with hinges tend to break down and are not as reliable as a one piece phone. These one piece phones may not be as flashy but if you are looking for durability you may want to get a single piece phone.Most however really enjoy customizing their phones and adding lots of cosmetic features like cell phone wallpaper, mobile games and many buy ringtones for their phones.

If you do find the mobile phone you want online, it is a good idea to go ahead and purchase while you are there. Shipping is often free, as an incentive, because the company is getting its money directly from you, rather than having to use the dealer as a middleman. You will get your phone just a day or two later, and you will have saved a lot of money.
