Edmonton which is the provincial capital, is known as the ‘Oil Capital of Canada’ and is also home to the world largest mall. In keeping with the large theme in the province largest city the Edmonton Space and Science Center features the largest planetarium in the country.

Calgary is another of the Canadian large cities. It has grown up between the flat farmlands and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Pictures of this city almost always feature the city beloved Calgary Tower. It is a downtown landmark and symbol, but it is also appreciated for its revolving restaurant, observation deck and cocktail lounge. Also downtown is the country longest running noontime theater appropriately named the Lunchbox Theater.

The fifteenth Winter Olympics were hosted here in 1988. many of the facilities already existed while others were built especially for the games. A trip to the site reveals the unnerving height of the ski jumps and the steep bobsled and luge runs.
