I was never one who wishes to live on the shores of a beachfront house
but when all of my friends started yapping about it, I started
contemplating which country I would like to spend the rest of my days
when I do retire. However, in our day and age, it's not exactly what we
think about everyday. We have deadlines, bosses to please and schedules
to squeeze our time into and sometimes I think vacations are nothing
more than a figment of man's imagination.
I was never one who wishes to live on the shores of a beachfront house but when all of my friends started yapping about it, I started contemplating which country I would like to spend the rest of my days when I do retire. However, in our day and age, it's not exactly what we think about everyday. We have deadlines, bosses to please and schedules to squeeze our time into and sometimes I think vacations are nothing more than a figment of man's imagination. I enjoy the city life as much as the next guy would, with work as a daily living routine and despite recreational activities, we never get to relax anymore. After a day of work, people would go to clubs or bars where dancing and other tiring social activity will be done. Is relaxation totally wiped out in our urban living existence?
Until one, day my dad took me to Belize and there he rented out a small beachfront house. Apparently my dad had a taste for sandy beaches, scuba diving and visiting ancient pyramids, looking at lost relics. We spent the week in Belize and it totally changed my views on beach living. We went scuba diving at the Great Blue Hole and it was a whole lot cheaper than what we paid for when we visited Australia. We also visited the Mayan ancient architectures and it was such a nostalgic feeling I could not describe. We trekked up and down the sublime mountain ranges and camped near the peak. There were caves and other natural wonders we visited with the help of a guide and experienced the magnificent rain forests of Belize.
After that, I couldn't stop thinking about going back to that beautiful country and my dad said he contacted a Belize real estate agent and asked about retiring there. He found out there was a Qualified Retirement Program available where other retirement destinations simply pale in comparison. The program offers less to no taxes at all and other benefits for retirees. He also mentioned that a lot of Belize real estate properties are affordable and are not really heavy to the pockets at all. Also added to the program is the fact that he only needs at least his minimum pension to qualify for the program. And since the cost of living in Belize is notably low, comfortable living won't be a† problem.
My dad said he might move there and retire completely, getting a decent real estate property near the beach or perhaps one in the mountains. This delighted me greatly since I can visit him whenever I want and get to experience paradise once again.
When it's my turn to retire, I would definitely follow the footsteps of my dad and get a place in Belize. The lush rain forests is just too great to behold and the beaches were so beautiful I never thought they existed on this planet! The waters are so clear that they glimmer under the bright sun and I would never have to worry about the winter season.
