No two families are alike when it comes to holidaying. We
all have our favourite activities when we are away from home. Choosing a
destination that fits with what your family enjoys is imperative.
One location that seems to have activities for just about any interest is the
Caribbean coral island of Barbados, located north of the South American
continent. Its 70 miles of white, sandy beaches are attractive to anyone
wanting a beautiful place to relax. If you enjoy a more active beach vacation,
you can take advantage of kite surfing, wind surfing, deep-sea fishing and
diving.
The beach isn't the only place in Barbados to observe the beauties of nature.
Harrison's Cave boasts a 40-foot waterfall. Unusual animals can be spotted at
the Barbados Wildlife Reserve. There are also lovely places to hike such as the
Andromeda Botanic Gardens, Welchman Hall Gully and the aptly named Flower
Forest. If you are very adventurous, you can zip line through the tropical
forest.
For a more educational experience, you can study British history on the island
in the museums and art galleries and even in the architecture reminiscent of a
time when the island was owned by the British Empire.
The island also caters to more modern interests with its shopping malls,
restaurants and night life. Lively music and bustling markets along with the
friendly people give it a unique feel that can't be duplicated any other place
in the world.
One of the first concerns in planning a vacation to Barbados is finding a place
to stay. If you want to go beyond the traditional hotel accommodations, there
are many Barbados villas to rent from luxury properties to less expensive ones.
A villa has much more space than a hotel room and many include customized
service from a personal concierge. There is no membership required such as with
a time share. Some of the luxury villas even include staff such as a butler,
maid, laundress and night watchman. These are just a few of the unique features
available and many of these are beach front properties and boast their own
private pools as well.
While luxury villas can be quite expensive, there are Barbados villas for rent
at a much lower price per night. Some of the less expensive options are much
like a cheery apartment or home equipped with kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and
living areas.
Barbados is a magical destination for anyone wishing to find a place in the
world with a balanced mix of activity and seclusion.
