Start your Ecuador trip in the Andean capital of Quito. There are many options for your full day in Quito. Explore the city starting in the historic center which was declared an UNESCO World Heritage site providing panoramic views of Alamada Park and the Basilica. Check out the Plaza Grande where a gorgeous cathedral sits adorned with plaques celebrating the city’s founding fathers. This plaza is also surrounded by some of most superb buildings in all of Ecuador, including the La Compania de Jesus and the Presidential Palace. Take in the views of the Volcano Pichincha in the Plaza de San Francisco and visit the San Francisco Church and Monastery. Just wandering the city will allow you to appreciate its beauty, culture, and history.

The second day of this exciting vacation will take you to the highest active volcano in the world, the Cotopaxi. Explore the Cotopaxi National Park, with a diverse landscape it is perfect for nature lovers; the park is home to many deer, horses, and llamas as well as various flora and fauna. Spend the morning enjoying the scenery and hiking throughout the park. In the afternoon head to the city of Banos located between the Rio Pastaza and the Tungurahua volcano where you can explore the city and prepare for your Banos tours the next day.

Your third day in Ecuador will be spent exploring the waterfalls and hot springs of Banos. Spend the following morning exploring more of the city of Banos before taking the afternoon to travel back to Quito for your morning flight to Cuenca.

Upon arrival to Cuenca, arguably the most beautiful city in the country, take time to explore the city independently or with a city tour. Cuenca is another UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a great place to visit for the charming colonial feel, hospitality, and most famously their Panama hats; the city of Cuenca is one of the largest producers of the elegant Panama hat. Enjoy the evening at your leisure as the next day is full of excitement in the wonderful city of Guayaquil.

For your last full day in Ecuador head towards the city of Guayaquil, stopping first at the Cajas National Park. The Park has over 250 lakes and ponds that spread across its varied landscapes; from desolate terrain to the lush cloud forest it provides diverse scenery and a great opportunity to take some photos! After a day in the park make the journey to the city of Guayaquil, known as the entertainment capital of Ecuador. Use the evening to enjoy the culture of this lively city before returning to your hotel to pack for your departure from Ecuador the following day.
