Thinking of taking a Florida Keys vacation?  Have you ever considered going with a rental vacation instead of paying for a hotel?

A Florida Keys vacation is a fun way to give your wallet a break.

We always have a awesome time whenever we visit the Florida Keys.  There is a ton of nighttime entertainment, the beaches are breathtaking, and you will be hard pressed to do everything there is to do.

You may be wondering what a rental vacation is.  Whatever does that mean?

A vacation rental can sometimes be confused with a time share but they are very different things.  You see, a time share is a piece of property that someone actually owns.  A rental vacation just means that the owner has chosen to rent out their apartment/condo/etc. to someone that is interested

It surprised me when I learned that you can really get a better price by renting a vacation rental then you would if you stayed in a hotel.  You have to remember that hotels have a lot of additional expenses like advertising, upkeep, etc., that all get passed to you.  Often times a vacation rental takes place when someone owns a home in the Florida Keys and is only there part of the year.  It just makes the most sense for them to rent it out and make money while they are not using it.

I do want to add a word of caution however, as when you stay at a chain hotel, you know exactly what to expect.  They all tend to be ran to the same level of standard.  A vacation rental is run by it's owner, and level of service may vary.

I want to suggest that you not jump right into the very first rental that you find.  It is recommended that you talk with someone whose opinion that you trust that has tried vacation rentals before before you take that first rental.  If you plan smart, a Florida Keys vacation will be a wonderful time and save you lots of dough.
