La Tania,French Ski Resorts that are Also Great in Summer Articles Courchevel and Chamonix are French ski resorts famous for their powdery slopes and snow covered mountains. However, it may surprise you to learn that there is no shortage of great outdoor activities here in the summer months as well.

Let me give you a little taster of what is on offer. From music festivals to white water rafting, you’ll find something for everyone at these French ski resorts. Of course, no one is stopping you from just hanging out in the fresh air and sunbathing!

La Tania

La Tania is open from the beginning of July to the end of August. Though it’s quieter in the summer months, there are loads of outdoor activities on offer. Make use of the mountains and explore the forest trails in a nice long hike – some ski lifts open especially for mountain bikers and walkers.

If sport is your thing, you’ll love the range of courts available. Go for a swim in the outdoor pool and then play a friendly game of tennis, beach volley ball or basketball. If you fancy something a bit more competitive, why not try paintballing?

French ski resorts in the summer are a great opportunity to have a crack at a new activity or indulge in an old hobby. In La Tania you can go fishing, quad biking; and clay pigeon shooting; you could try archery, horse riding, or a leisurely game of golf; the possibilities are plentiful!

Courchevel

Use the official tourist sites to discover the range of events at Courchevel over the summer. There is a variety of live music on offer as well as biking and hiking competitions.

Near Courchevel Village you can splash around at Aquamotion. Here you’ll find saunas and Jacuzzis for grown-up relaxing and a 110-metre flume for when you feel like playing the kid! For something a little different, check out Espace Wellness: a dark salt cave with chromotherapy lights and atmospheric films. In the spa area there are various treatments available such as facials, massage, seaweed wraps, and hot and cold water baths.

Chamonix

In Charmonix ski lifts are left open to give summer visitors easy access to the mountains. Take the views in on your mountain bike or follow one of the many walking routes in the area.

For the thrill seekers, there’s white water rafting or a parapente flight. If you want to feel the winter chill head off on a guided glacier hike. A real test of your nerves will be the Via Ferrata, as you edge you way along sheer cliff faces, up iron ladders and across cable bridges.

Fun for all the family – even if you’ve got no kids! – is the summer luge on rails that whizzes down the hillside for 1300m. You’re in control of your speed so don’t hold back!

Where to Stay?

Ski Amis offers a variety of self-catered apartments and hotels in these French ski resorts to suit a range of groups and budgets. I hope this encourages you to look at these areas with new eyes, as there is so much to see and do at any time of year!
