The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and its incredibly rich cultural experience have led visitors from round the world to book tickets on international flights to the country. Among the hidden gems of the UAE, Fujairah though lesser known, is slowly gaining popularity as one of the best places to see the culture of this Arab nation up close. Following are some of the top lures for travellers booking UAE bound flights.
Al Bidyah Mosque
Al Bidyah Mosque is considered as the oldest mosque currently in existence in the UAE. This ancient building was built using just stone and mud hence radiocarbon dating of the building has proved impossible. However, according to available estimates, it was built in the latter half of the 15th century. The mosque is still in operation along with its two watch towers that overlook the nearby village. Those booking passage aboard flights destined for Fujairah can ill afford to miss out on visiting this unique cultural attraction of the UAE.
Diving at Dibba Rock
Dibba is a small costal town, which does not feature on the itinerary of international tourists boarding flights to the emirate because of the assumed lack of attractions. But a short distance away from this sleepy town lie some of the best diving spots in the UAE. Among them, the most famous one is Dibba Rock. Over the past few years, this spot has attracted numerous tourists simply because of excellent visibility under water as well as the wide variety of aquatic life that abounds here. Creatures that inhabit these waters include turtles, cuttlefish, black tips and a wide range of brightly coloured pelagic fish species. Definitely something to look forward to for those purchasing tickets on UAE bound flights.
Fujairah Museum
Fujairah Museum, located a short distance away from the hustle-bustle of the city, is arguably the best place to get a closer look at the history and culture of the UAE. Those booking flights to this emirate can view artefacts dating back to the 6th century BC. Most of the artefacts on display here include those obtained from the Bithna Temple and the tomb at Qidfa. Popular ones on exhibition include an ostrich egg that is thousands of years old as well as jewellery, pottery and spearheads from ancient times. The tickets to this museum are quite cheap and maximum tourist traffic occurs from October to March.
Wadi Wurayah
Currently designated as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance, Wadi Wurayah is home to hundreds of species of indigenous reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals and plants. The area has achieved great fame among foreign tourists boarding flights terminating at the UAE due to its scenic waterfall that is located amidst the famed Hajar Mountains. The area represents the last stand in the wild for endangered species like the Arabian tahr, Arabian leopard and the caracal lynx. Additionally, the fresh water of this wetland is one of the few places in the UAE where one can come across multiple species of orchids, many of which are only found in the region
