With this article I discuss Grand Canyon National Park bus tours from Las Vegas, NV. Specifically, I review the Skywalk coach trip and write about ways to make it cheaper.

Travelers can go to two rims of the Grand Canyon: the South Rim or the West. You can actually see either one if you'll be based in Vegas,Grand Canyon National Park Bus - Skywalk Tours That Begin From Las Vegas Articles but here I'll just talk about motor coach trips to the West Rim and the Skywalk. The West Rim is closer too, it is only 120 miles away from Las Vegas. It takes around 2.5 hours to get there by bus. It's a special place, because it's where you'll find the remarkable Grand Canyon Skywalk (the "Glass Bridge"). Book AheadLas Vegas attracts millions of travelers every year and a good number of them take a Grand Canyon tour while they are there. The West Rim is close enough to be the perfect side trip so even though they depart every day, they sell out fast. For that reason, you want to book your bus tour ahead of time. I usually suggest doing that at least a week ahead. If you can even find an open tour 48 hours in advance, you will probably have to pay more for it and it might not even be a decent choice since the popular tours sell out first. Most of the Grand Canyon buses leave Vegas early in the morning, around 7 am, every day of the year. From start to finish they last around 12 hours, and they're a tremendous value. Grand Canyon motor coach trips include complimentary shuttle service (pickup and drop-off at your hotel), lunch, and all applicable Park fees and taxes. See Hoover Dam TooDuring the bus ride from Vegas, you'll pass by Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam where the bus stops for a quick photo op. The bus only stops for a short while so you don't lose any valuable time at the canyon. You see, you just can't do the Canyon justice if you take a full tour of Hoover Dam on the same day. The solution is simple, just tour them on different days. Grand Canyon SkywalkWhen your bus makes it to the West Rim, you'll be close enough to walk to the Skywalk, and if you bought a tour that includes VIP passes, you can go straight to the front of the line. The bus tour allows you 2-plus hours to explore the area so that gives you plenty of time to admire the view from the Glass Bridge. You'll want to save plenty of time to hop a free shuttle to go see Guano Point and shop for souvenirs in the gift shops. The view is beautiful from the lookout point, you can even see the Colorado River wending along the canyon floor. I'd also suggest going to Hualapai Ranch (a fictional Old West-style town) for the mock gunfight show (kids love it), the Hualapai Cultural Center and Eagle Point. Enjoy Your TourYou'll have a fantastic time at the West Rim, and the bus ride there will be scenic and enjoyable. I urge you to buy a tour package that includes Skywalk access because it's so expensive to add after you arrive there. Remember to book your tour seats one week ahead of time for the best selection and price.
