Guavaberry Country Club

Located in the Dominican Republic, the Guavaberry Golf and Country Club turned out to be a welcome addendum to the island nation's industry of tourism. Located at Juan Dolio in Dominican Republic, the Guavaberry Country Club is at a 40 miles distance from Santo Domingo – capital city and from Las Americas Airport, it takes 20 minutes to reach the club.

This island nation of West Indies is the place where in 1492 Columbus landed and Ponce de León resided. Dominican Republic has long been known for San Pedro de Macoris (a nearby location) and production of baseball players like George Bell, Rico Carty, Alfonso Soriano, Pedro Guerrero, Joaquin Andújar and Sammy Sosa. Golf was just a reflection!

Santo Domingo Country Club was the only place for golf and was for private use in this Caribbean republic. The Santo Domingo Country Club ruled the throne for 80 long years until the Guavaberry Country Club opened with hotel beds totaling to a staggering 3,000, a lovely beach, safe environment and stable politics.

The signature golf course of Guavaberry Country Club is the Gray Player, par-72, 7,156-yard! Senior architect Warren Henderson built this on the terrains which are gently sloping and covers some formations of coral-rock which are dramatic. Only a few guavaberry trees can now be found here.

146-yard par-3 13th is the signature hole of the Guavaberry Country Club golf course. This hole will definitely remind the player of a limestone quarry from old times. The set-up takes a complete look with 2 greens and a waterfall. 155-yard par-3 15th will make you pinpoint your stroke to a green island which is surrounded by a pond of 3-acres and sand.

The round comes to an end with the monster – a 446-yard par-4. It is considered as one among Caribbean's most challenging holes. Hit right through the middle and make sure that you avoid the coral rocks which lay on the right. According to the geologists, it was 200,000 years ago when these rocks were pushed up from ocean floor. On the right side of the rock bed is the green and 2 large bunkers are there in the pile of rocks which are meant for catching the roving shots!

There are different kinds of memberships offered by the Guavaberry Golf and Country Club for the non-residents as well as the villa homeowners. Membership begins at $4,000. Membership for the recreational facilities like Tennis Center, Gym, Beach ClubFeature Articles, Equestrian Center etc. are also included.
