Hassle-Free Security Tips

Travelers smart enough to purchase cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms should be aware that by being proactive they can make their passage through airport security with relative ease.

The following are suggestions from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA):

·       Have out and ready to present to a TSA officer at the airport security checkpoint your boarding pass and a picture ID issued by the government.

·       Make certain that you arrive on time.  Arrival time recommendations vary by airport, airline and day of travel.  Leave adequate time to check baggage if necessary, and move through security.

·       Wear slip on shoes since this will allow you to remove your shoes quickly without needing to sit down.

·       If you are carrying a pet onto a plane, remove that pet from its carrying case and send the case though the X-ray machine.  Hold your pet in your arms and proceed through security.

·       If you have an infant in a baby carrier or stroller, pick the baby up and place your carrier or stroller so that it can go through the X-ray machine with your bags.  Ideally collapse the stroller before arriving at the metal detector.

·       Belligerent behavior, inappropriate jokes and threats will not be tolerated by TSA officials.  Such language will result in delays and possibly missing flight departures.  Local law enforcement may be called.
