How to get US Tourist visa for Indians?

To get a US tourist visa first one must apply for US tourist visa for Indians. It’s a very demanding visa because every one of us has an urge to visit the US, but before that one should have a clear conscience of the reason to visit and to have complete documents.

Procedure and documentation.

Fill the online form of US visa for Indians which is available on the US Department of State Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website.  Fill the DS-160 application form.  Once filled you will get the confirmation which will have a barcode of CEAC print that form. Create your profile and remember to save the urn (unique reference number) so that you can log in whenever you want. Proceed with the form from step 1 to step 10 as asked in the form. After completing and submission of the form there comes a visa fee. Pay the amount online and save the receipt for further reference for an appointment. After payment completion, you will have to book 2 appointments first biometric appointment and second Interview appointment.  A biometric appointment will take place in VAC (Visa Application Center) for fingerprints and photographs and an interview appointment will take place at the US Consulate/US Embassy.  For scheduling an appointment you need passport number, form printout, CEAC barcode, receipt number.

After scheduling an appointment you have to visit the VAC location on the day of appointment for biometrics, for that, you should take a passport, DS-160 confirmation form, appointment confirmation form and a photograph if the applicant is under 14 years, along with you. Completing biometric appointment there comes an interview appointment, make sure to visit the embassy or consulate 15 min before an interview.  During the interview,w the interviewer will ask the question related to the DS-160 form make sure you answer them honestly, otherwise, US Visa may get rejected. Take all the documents that you took for a biometric appointment along with you including the DS-160 confirmation form that stamped at VAC (Visa Application Center).

  • Original passport (new and old if any).
  • 2 photographs.
  • Reason to visit in detail.
  • Bank statement attested by the bank of the last 6 months.
  • If retired, then a retirement letter.
  • If working, than employment letter/proof.
  • Fee receipt or identification card of school or college for the current academic year.
  • Travel itinerary and accommodation for the entire trip.

  • Offer letter
  • NOC from the company on the letterhead along with the company’s seal and signature

Documentation for Self-employed applicants

  • Cover letter from the self-employed company on the letterhead along with the company’s seal and signature
  • Bank statement attested by the bank of the last 6 months.
  • Income tax return for the last 3 years.

Documentation for business visa

  • Original passport (new and old if any)
  • Cover letter from the company on the letterhead mentioning the purpose of the business visit along with the company’s seal and signature
  • Bank statement attested by the bank of the last 6 months.
  • Income tax return for the last 3 years.
  • Invitation letter to attend business-like conference, meeting or training.
  • If you are an employer of the Indian company than attach Bank statement attested by the bank of last 6 months, 3-month salary slip and NOC letter from the company

The process for US business visa for Indians takes at least 7-8 working days after the interview is done and depending upon the categories. The entire process may take up to 30-35 days including extra information or documentation.  While the US tourist visa for Indians takes 9-10 working days after the interview. The entire process for this takes around 1 or 1 and a half months to complete.
