Here is Information about Mayabunder Andaman: - It is situated in the northern most part of Middle Andaman. The distance between Port Blair and Mayabunder is about 240 kms and Mayabunder and Rangat is about 70 kms. by road.

The sea distance betwen Port,Information about Mayabunder Andaman Articles y Blair and Mayabunder is 135 kms. Mayabunder is the administrative headquarters for the Middle Andaman and North Andaman. The total population of Mayabunder is 21 570 mainly rural, as per 1991 census.

The population of Mayabunder consists ofTamilians, Malayalis, Bengalis and a few Burmese settlers, with a distinct culture. There are 71 census villages in the Mayabunder. Comparatively the Mayabunder, being headquarters, has better infrastructural facilities like hospitals, provision of water, electricity, communications, internal transport, etc. Mayabunder has a number of islands and beaches surrounding it. Of these beaches, a charming beach called Karmatang beach is situated at a distance of 12 kms from Mayabunder bus terminus.

This is an excellent beach for snorkeling, diving, and swimming. This beach is very famous for turtle nesting like Chutbut Bay in Rangat. Tourists can go and see, during full moon days, hatching of turtles which are very interesting. Mayabunder has excellent scenic beauty, and sunrise and sunset are really worth seeing. The tourists can reach Mayabunder by road or by boat. The boat journey takes 12 hours whereas the bus journey takes seven to eight hours. Tourists can enjoy the natural beauty of the creeks, mangrove forests, and open sea fishes, dances of dolphins, flying fishes etc, and while going by boat. If they choose road transport, they can enjoy the real natural forest beauty when the buses go by crossing the reserved forests area where the aborigins Jarawas are living. The vehicle ferry will help the buses to cross a big creek in two places; one is Middle Strait Jetty and the other one Uttara Jetty.

While crossing the forest area the beauty of the forests draw the attention of the tourists. In Mayabunder, there is a beautiful government guest house under the control of APWD, A & N Administration. Four cooks are attached with the guest houses and they provide, on order, all types of Indian food at comparatively cheaper rates.

They move with the tourists really by treating themt, as if the tourists were their guests. From Mayabunder guest house, the view particularly at the time of sunrise and moonrise is very Wupse, fascinating. The tourists can stay in the guest taking prior permission from the Chief Engineer, Port Blair.
