Is Lymington self catering accommodation making the town overpriced?

Hundreds of holiday houses, apartments, cottages, hotels and Bed and Breakfasts, have kept the cash flowing into Lymington in the New Forest for many years now, but is the town becoming overpriced?

Located in southern England between the New Forest and Bournemouth, Lymington is regarded as a highly desirable place for renting self catering holiday accommodation.

Many business people have invested vast sums in Lymington self catering accommodation, which has particularly benefitted from holiday makers choosing to holiday in Britain due to the weak pound.

Recently, on an episode of the programme ‘Three in a Bed’ on Channel 4, Lymington self catering accommodation provider Liese Cairns, reviewed two other B&Bs prior to hosting fellow contestants at her B&B: Leyland Country House in the Georgian market town.

On his visit south, Tony Sweeney, who owns Swallowfield Country House with his wife Suzanne, near Coventry, told Leise that her service was not worth the £110 a night she charged.

Nevertheless, he ultimately paid the full amount after acknowledging the general price of the local area.

Passing trade facilitated by Lymington’s self catering accommodation gives a huge boost to the local economy, because holiday makers are more likely to spend out on things than the average man or woman.

Additionally, locals have benefitted from the array of jobs, which the popularity of Lymington self-catering accommodation has brought about - although some townsfolk now protest that the area has become too expensive for them.

Dave Charles, a carpenter from Lymington said: “Our local economy is becoming inflated by all this new money coming down from London and now my grown up kids can’t afford to live in the town they were born in... and that can’t be a good thing for our society.”

“Even though I get a lot of work from making alterations to the large stock of Lymington’s self catering accommodationComputer Technology Articles, I have to say that the area is becoming too expensive.” He added.
