Island Cruises
This article contains information about the most current island cruises available and the interesting itineraries of certain island cruise packages offered in the market. Island cruises is the trading
name for a cruise line which is operated by Sunshine Cruises. They operate two
ships the Island Star and Island Escape both of which carry in excess of 1,500
passengers in style and comfort predominately around the Mediterranean
Sea. A Mediterranean 14 night cruise departs from Palma, Majorca in the early
evening and begins sailing the
Mediterranean Sea giving passengers time to explore the ship and
discover the onboard amenities before having to decide which of the many cafes,
bars and restaurants to dine in. The following day and night are spent at sea where passengers can soak
up the Mediterranean sun by a pool or the more energetic can use the gym
facilities. The ship also has activities designed with children in mind to keep
them occupied and happy. Eating and drinking is offered in a wide variety of
different style settings offering a wide choice of culinary delights. The ship arrives on day three in Palermo,
Sicily at breakfast time and
remains docked for the majority of the day to enable passengers to go ashore
and discover the delights of this bustling, thriving city. The ship leaves Sicily late afternoon and continues cruising the
Mediterranean Sea arriving in Civitavecchia,
Italy in the
morning. This port is ideally situated
for discovering the local area or take an optional excursion to places a
little further away, before returning to the ship ready to leave port in the early
evening and sail through the night. Day five begins with the ship continuing to sail before arriving in Ajaccio, Corsica in time
for lunch. The afternoon can be spent ashore discovering both the classical
Mediterranean scenery or relaxing on one of the beautiful beaches. The ship
leaves Corsica in the evening, sails through the night and docks in the
beautiful island
of Sardinia. The
traditional Sardinian foods can be sampled at lunchtime in one of the numerous
seafront restaurants, many of which specialise in local fish dishes. The ship continues cruising the Mediterranean Sea before hopping between
the Balearic islands of Menorca and Majorca. The scheduled itinerary continues with day nine
at sea relaxing and soaking up the sun, arriving in Messina, Sicily
on day ten where a whole host of discovery and sightseeing adventures await.
Late afternoon the ship leaves this delightful island to make its way to
Naples, Italy for the start of week two of the cruise, the ship remains docked
in Naples for the whole day which gives passengers plenty of time to go ashore
and discover this vibrant and exciting city before returning onboard to carry
on cruising to Livorno, Italy to sample the delights of Tuscany. Day thirteen sees the ship arrive in the historic port of Toulon
on the French coast, where another day can be spent ashore enjoying the
beautiful coastline. The last day of the cruise is spent in the vibrant and
cosmopolitan city of Barcelona, Spain before arriving back in Palma,
Majorca early the following morning for
