Kanpur is an important city in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Though, popular for its industries and commercial importance, the city is also proves as a good tourist destination.

The huge populous of the city does has its demerits but there are certain advantages as well. The influx of different people from different region, caste, religion, and creed etc. makes the city's culture rich, and this is quite visible in the festivities, food, and religious places in the city. Nonetheless, textile, fertilizers, leather, chemicals, soaps, and pan masala are the major industries in the city. Additionally, there are a couple of two-wheeler and engineering plants situated within the premise of the city.

Apart from the numerous industries, the other attribute for which Kanpur is famous for is it being the hub of education. In fact, it hasn't been long that this attribute got appended to the city. Kanpur is home to a centre of most reputed engineering institute, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The other renowned educational institutions in the city include: CSJM University, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, and GSVM Medical College.

Like most of the urban cities in the world Kanpur has its merits and demerits, and hate it or love it, it is one inseparable part of the country. On the flip side, Kanpur also makes an excellent destination to spend a vacation full of fun, adventure, and excitement. There exist a small airport; it is a domestic airport and is assisted by frequent flights from top metro cities in India. Kanpur also enjoys excellent rail and road connectivity, which are cheaper modes to reach the city. The good thing is that there are some good Kanpur hotels located near the airport and railway station. These are ideal lodging options for those who seek conveniences.

 

Travellers who are in the city for fun and tourism, Kanpur is crowded with attractions. There are large numbers of religious sites, historical places, parks, and pleasures of modern tourism. For the spiritualists, the Dwarka Dhish Temple is a must visit. It is one of the most revered temples in the city with the presiding deity of lord Krishna. Additionally, there exist the Jain Glass Temple, Shri Radhakrishna Temple, and Kanpur Memorial Church. Other than these, there exists a place called Bithoor, or Brahmavart locally. It is a major pilgrimage gathering destination and is mentioned in Hindu epic Ramayana. The other must visit places in the city include: Allen Forest Zoo, Jajmau, Boodha Bargad, Nana Rao Park, Phool Bagh, Moti Jheel, Sariya Ghat, and Siddhant Ghat etc.

For a sojourn trip of Kanpur, 2 to 3 days are sufficient enough. The budget hotels in Kanpur are ideal for a brief trip of the city. However, there also exist the big budget 4 and 5 Star hotels, offering every single amenities and luxuries that the guests look for.
