The French Alps is one of the most popular skiing destinations in Europe,Les Gets Skiing - 'Know Before You Go' Articles year after year, and Les Gets is very often top of people's list. After all, it is part of one of the biggest and most varied ski areas in the world and it's perfect for an exciting winter adventure holiday. Moreover, Les Gets skiing provides a great opportunity for families, with a host of different types of attractions and activities to be enjoyed. But before you head out to the resort on an adventure holiday to ski, paraglide, ski tour or any other activities, take note of the following information to help you plan your itinerary better.

A Wide Range of Trails

Whether you're a novice or experienced skier, there are more than enough Les Gets skiing options to choose from, in and around the resort. In fact, in recent times there has been a push to improve the beginner trails, the best known of which is Les Chavannes. However there are also plenty of challenging trails for the more experienced skiers to enjoy – both on and off piste - making it the perfect family destination in terms of catering to different levels of skills.

When to Go?

If you're heading to Les Gets, skiing is more than likely your sport of choice – but don’t close your mind off to the huge range of other winter activities. For families, often the best months to go are December and January, when the resort is transformed into a Christmas winter wonderland - adorned with gorgeous decorations and blessed with an abundance of snow. Rather surprisingly, there are usually less crowds in December compared to January, so it's a perfect time to have a relaxing holiday with the family. While January is usually the coldest month, it’s also when snowfall is premium – making it ideal to get involved in some of the more off the beaten track activities, like snow touring and off piste skiing.

Other Exciting Activities

As mentioned, aside from traditional skiing, there are plenty of other unique activities you can try in Les Gets. Skiing off piste is one, of course (although this may not always be suitable for younger members of the family) and ski touring is another absolutely fantastic way of getting out to explore the terrain. Other options are snowshoeing, open-air ice skating, paragliding and even parachuting. For something a little less high octane, there are pottery and chocolate workshops to sign up for.

Whatever you choose to do on an adventure holiday to this fantastic resort, you can be guaranteed you'll never be bored!
