Hence the authority of the NGV decided to redevelop the site. The Victorian State Government also agreed to this and they funded another National Gallery of Victoria. So, now there are two buildings, the Ian Potter Centre and the other is the NGV at St Kilda Road.

The Ian Potter Centre is located at Federation Square on the corner of Russell and Flinders Streets in Melbourne. Federation Square is the heart of Melbourne and easily accessible via public transport as basically every train and every tram get to Flinders Street Station and Federation Square.

The centre is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 5 pm. And on Thursdays the gallery is open from 10am right through until 9pm. It remains closed on Mondays.
