New Entry to Extended Stay Hotels

Travelers who enjoy flying on cheap airline tickets, finding cheap auto rentals, and staying in discount hotel rooms will be delighted to hear Hilton has introduced it newest brand Hotel2Suites.

This new brand is planned to compete with other mid tier extended stay hotels, including Candlewood Suites and TownePlace Suites.  Hilton described rooms in the new hotel “like a cool first apartment.”

Extended stay hotels while primarily targeting business travelers have also proven attractive to budget minded leisure travelers.  Desirable attributes include suite style units which provide additional space at very little extra cost, in room kitchens, eliminating the need to eat out, and at most extended stay hotels, complimentary breakfasts.

The extended stay hotel market is very healthy, with an occupancy rate of 73 percent in the third quarter of 2010 vs. 66 percent the prior year.  This compares very favorably to the entire lodging industry whose occupancy rate increased to 64 percent from 57 percent the same quarter last year.

Home2 Suites is the most rapidly growing brand in Hilton history with six properties under construction and 77 more under contract.

The average Home2 Suites will offer 108 studio and one bedroom suites that include adjustable closet space, an entertainment and work area, as well as kitchen space with a microwave/convection oven, dishwasher and full sized refrigerator.

Hilton’s target guest for this hotel will be someone wanting to spend 10 or more nights.  By enabling guests to easily move around wheeled furniture and adjust storage optionsScience Articles, the hope is to make Home2 Suites guests feel like they are staying at a home away from home.

Home2 Suites will appeal to environmentally conscious guests with all of its carpets and tables made from recycled materials and its Energy Star appliances.
