From being a local government area to eventually establishing some world-class names, the general Perthshire area is ideal for anyone planning any of the Short breaks Scotland.

Originally from 1890 to 1975, Perthshire had a vital role to play in being an important governmental area. By 1930, the area expanded as neighbouring country Kinrossshire joined under a united county council, which was finally abolished by 1975 when the Local Government Act of 1973 split the area into both the Tayside and Central regions. The Central region consisted of West Perthshire, Glendoven and the parish of Muckhart, whilst Longforgan and the rest of the county were linked up with Kinruss and Kettins to form the greater Tayside area. However this era was not destined to last too long either as a system of authorities was further established in 1996. The area finally became under power by the councils of Perth, Stirling, Kinross and Clackmannanshire.

After such a turbulent history, Perthshire now celebrates having achieved a very impressive alumnus of celebrities and big names to have come out from the area. Two famous actors that lived in the region as children were ‘Moulin Rouge’ star Ewan McGregor and British veteran Alan Cumming. Other famous names include commandment Sir Charles Menzies, politician Rory Stewart and scientist Robert Stirling. However, by far, the biggest name has to be author JK Rowling. Writing the ‘Harry Potter’ books that led to worldwide success, critical acclaim and a movie franchise that has grossed over $8 billion worldwide, there is no denying that JK Rowling has attracted millions of visitors to the region every year. Whilst many of these famous faces have since moved down south to London, their origins and backstories can all be told if you visit an area that has always been aware of itself shifting and ever-changing.

So when you leave your Perthshire hotel and take a stroll in the area, be aware that Perthshire has and always will continue to evolve and grow. From rural farmers to best-selling authorsScience Articles, this small area of Scotland has simply seen it all.
