Resorts - Exploring the Perfect One for Your Vacation
It's almost like stepping back into time when you walk through the front doors of the traditional Mexican architecture and walk across the tiled floors to stand in front of the adobe fireplace to warm...
1880, and you may even forget you're not an old Western cowboy. It can be hard to remember who you are what year you are in when you get lost in one of the historic resorts that dot the area.
It's this rugged landscaping that makes this area so beautiful and seemingly remote. The Chianti Mountains are home to a rich multitude of wildlife including mule deer, white tailed deer, elk, buffalo, mountain lions, foxes and coyotes not to mention the abundance of birds including peasants, blue quail, and the white winged dove. This area is also home to a small town called Marfa where you can find a few Texas style resorts that are tucked away waiting to be discovered.
This area is considered an ideal getaway because it is isolated by the surrounding desert and sits at an altitude between 3,500 to 8,000 feet with the Pecos River meandering through the steep canyons. This high altitude and isolated location creates a uniquely mild climate that in sharp contrast to the intense heat and humidity that the rest of the lone state suffers through in July and August.
If you're in the area as a serious hunter, the rugged terrain is best navigated by the use of horses or ATVs although it is also possible to hike through it if you're in good shape. For the serious hunter this can be a challenging experience but luckily when you're staying in one of the nearby resorts you have access not only to all of this land and the abundance of wildlife on it, but also to experienced hunting guides who can help you make your way through the steep canyons and tall grasslands.
If you're not here to hunt there is still plenty to do and staying in one of these area resorts makes it possible to find plenty of activities to occupy your time even if it's just to be pampered in one of the resort spas. If you're looking for something more active though you can also enjoy a horseback ride through the canyons and make your own meandering way along the Pecos River at sunrise and enjoy the beauty of the new day without the hustle and bustle of the crowd.
This is also an ideal area for those who want to capture the white tailed deer coming down to the water at night or capture the herd of buffalo making their way through tall grasslands surrounding area with the use of photography instead of guns. These resorts offer something for everyone and are well worth exploring.
