The convection was organized by South Asian Studies (ISAS), one of the visions of Mr. Nathan. The convention was cited to be a great move to get like minded and elite member of the entire South Asian Diaspora together. A whopping 50 million members to South Asian Diaspora are the driving force for unified progress of Asia as whole, was commented by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who was speaking from the platform of SADC.
In his speech here, Mr. Lee was emphatic about the quality and talent this diaspora has generated which is reflected not only in Asia but also globally. According to Mr. Lee this diaspora fulfils two very important purposes.
1)    One, of abridging gap between their native connections with the community they reside with. This, of course has opened the gate between two divides of the worlds. Thus helping in better exploring of trade, industry and co-operation.
2)    Second, is that of innovation and thought progression generated by the people of this diaspora, bringing the values of their new homelands to one place. This intermingling takes the cultural value and ethics to newer levels, adding dynamic shape to it
Mr. Lee was also well aware that this cultural cameo can not be effective if it is not well balanced. Reflecting this, he said that focus should be on building links in comprehensive manner rather then in localised or through their new homelands.
Mr. Lee also made a reference to varied topics in his speech but his concluding words were most noteworthy. He said "We succeeded largely on the backs of our diaspora who came from many lands to create a home and a nation on this island". Along with this he also asserted that Singapore will be part of all such endeavors
