Always teach children to get out of the car on the side closest to sidewalk. When the driver is exiting always check the side mirrors for other cars or cyclists before opening door. Stopping to unloading children - unloading children from a car must be done in a safe place off the road at an appropriate area or near the sidewalk. If your family has to cross the road, ensure that this is performed quickly and calmly by using an over head, underground pathway or at a pedestrian crossing for the safety of you and your family. Organized Transportation – If minors are traveling by themselves, make sure that transportation vehicles are the owner's and have permission to transport. Vehicles of regulated transportation companies have licenses to transport paying passengers. Waiting for the bus - there is always regulated and safe waiting areas at the station. Do not wait on the road or down from the curb as long as the bus has not stopped. Boarding the bus – you must wait until the bus stops completely, with open doors, board bus only at front door, slowly, carefully and without urgency. Drop off the bus - Remain seated until the bus has stops completely. Exit though front door under the supervision of the driver especially with children. Before moving to your next destination ensure all children are safely off and clear of the bus. Crossing the Road - Practice with your children the rules of crossing the road safely. This is especially important while away on vacation children can get distracted easily in a new place.
