Tourist Attractions You Won't Want To Miss When Visiting Carson California

Carson's convenient location in the center of Southern California makes it so easy to get to all of the best sites and attractions in the area. Long Beach, Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Anaheim are all within 30 minutes or less and each offers some great attractions. 

The most well-known attraction in Carson is the sports complex, the Home Depot Center. This huge multi-sports center can be found on the California State University at Dominguez Hills campus. This is where the Chivas USA and Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer teams play. Of course, there are also many concerts and traveling performing arts shows that take place here throughout the year, so you’ll definitely want to check out the events calendar for the Home Depot Center before planning your trip to Carson.

Another popular attraction located in Carson is the International Printing Museum which houses one of the world’s biggest collections of historic printing and equipment used in the production of graphic arts. Be sure to remember that the museum is open only on Saturdays from 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. One of the most popular and fun attractions in Carson is Go Kart World, which can be found on Recreation Road. This large compound has six go kart race tracks, tons of arcade games and a bumper car track just to name a few of the fun activities here.

If visiting Carson, you will definitely want to take the 30 minute drive north, up to the Hollywood and Beverly Hills area. Some of the must-see attractions in this area would include the Chinese Theater, Hollywood Sign, the star-studded Walk of Fame and Rodeo Drive. Must-do activities would include taking a bus or Segway tour of celebrity homes or getting a star map and driving around to each one yourself. Just north of this area in Burbank is the Warner Brothers and NBC studios. Here you can take a lot tour and attend a taping of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno or the Conan O’Brien show.  

Northwest about 25 minutes from Carson is Santa Monica. Here you will want to see the Santa Monica Pier, which allows you to enjoy breathtaking views of the Pacific Coast and Ocean. Must-see attractions at the Pier include the Heal the Bay Aquarium and the Pacific Park amusement park. The Pier also offers lots of shopping and dining as well as a merry-go-round that has been at the Pier since 1922 and is still in operation today. The Santa Monica Pier has been featured in many major motion pictures like Iron Man, Forest Gump and Titanic, just to name some of them.

Three miles south of Santa Monica is Venice Beach, which you may have seen in movies like Blow, American History X, Apt Pupil, Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion and The Big Lebowski. Venice Beach is also home of the famous Muscle Beach outdoor gym and lively street performers and vendors. Many celebrities love Venice Beach so much that they actually live there, so keep your eyes open for them!

A 30 minute drive directly to the east of Carson will take you to Anaheim, home of the Disneyland parks and resorts. Here you can play all day at the original Disneyland Park or the newly developed California Adventure Park. You can also enjoy Downtown Disney, a huge shopping, dining and entertainment complex that is fun both during the day and at night. Just 30 minutes north of Carson in Hollywood you can visit the Universal Studios theme park and enjoy their entertainment complex called City Walk.

A must-see outdoor attraction in the Carson area is the Portuguese Bend Reserve, which is located in Rolling Hills. This huge park, located just 25 minutes southwest from Carson offers hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. The trails offer an up-close and personal experience with wilderness and incredible views of the Pacific Ocean, canyons and Catalina Island. No trip to Carson would be complete without spending at least one day at one of the many beautiful beaches to its northFree Web Content, west and south. You can lay out on the sandy beach or enjoy water activities from surfing and paddle boarding to deep sea fishing or scuba diving.
