Travel Agents on Khaosan Road the Gateway to South East Asia

This article talks about the backpacker and traveler’s hub known as Khaosan Road, the small Bangkok road that over the years has become known as the gateway to South East Asia. Khaosan road is famous for its nightlife, travel agents, diving agents and its easy access to the rest of Thailand and South East Asia and an ideal hub for the first time traveler.

Khaosan Road is often the first stopping point for the budget traveler upon their arrival in Thailand.  It serves as the focal point for backpackers, to meet, congregate and plan their onward journeys within Thailand and beyond. The large supply of cheap hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, travel agents and shops make it a perfect place to arrange a travel itinerary.  The clientele in and around Khaosan Road, on the whole, tend to be relatively transitory.  Though it isn’t unknown for visitors to become easily absorbed in the party mood, and end up extending their visit far longer than initially intended, generally speaking it’s a place to arrive, either before or after a tour or trip.

Planning a tour from Khaosan Road couldn’t be easier.  The only real problem is in selecting one of the hundreds of tour companies to choose from.  However, whatever the choice, the traveler should be confident that there is probably no cheaper place to book a package tour.  Obviously not all people are on a budget, and although many companies in this area specialize in tours involving lengthy bus journeys and cheap accommodation, most if not all agents can equally cater for the high end traveler, involving air travel and the very finest hotels Thailand has to offer. Also, increasingly popular are eco tours, which generally charge a premium, for the ever growing group of ecologically minded customers.

Common destinations within Thailand might involve either travel to the southern beaches, such as Phuket and Koh Samui, or alternatively to the more mountainous and natural inland areas, such as Chang Mai or Pai. Typically a package includes a three in one option.  Some of these trips are fixed, whilst others allow the travel to mix and mach the tour, to tailor to their own particular requirements.

When arranging a tour to one of the beach locations, along with travel and accommodation to the original destination, one might expect to enjoy trips to islands or other areas of outstanding beauty, cruises, snorkeling and diving.  If choosing a visit to the North, again after travel and hotels are catered for, further trips and activities may offer hiking, rafting, mountain biking, elephant tours, and opportunities to explore the diverse fauna and flora of the area.  In both cases, the traveler would usually get amble time to visit other local places of interest, along with time for shopping and for experiencing local cuisine.

There are, of course, tours available for those not wishing to travel as far away as Pai or Krabi, both around 660 km from Bangkok.  In fact, for those wishing to remain closer to Bangkok, tours are available on a one day only basis.  A very popular tour is the 3 in 1 tour which visits the Floating Market, followed by the Crocodile Farm and finally the Rose Garden.  Another area for tourists looking to enjoy areas of natural beauty, but close to Bangkok, is Kanchanaburi. Only 130 kms from Bangkok, a day trip may include a visit to the river Kwai War Museum and graves, a tiger temple visit at the Tiger Island and Park Project, river rafting and an elephant camp visit.  Such a trip costs from around 2,000bht.
