Barcelona is second largest city of Spain. Barcelona is located on the northeast coast of the Iberian Peninsula facing the Mediterranean Sea. It is also the capitol of Catalonia community of Spain. This city has very old and different kind of architecture.  Due to its historical background, it becomes a famous tourist destination from in the world. Due to its history it has a rich cultural heritage. If you have interest in culture and want to see some historical place with touch of modernization then Barcelona is place for you. With rich historical background Barcelona is main source of revenue from tourists.

History:
Two different legends contributed in the history of Barcelona. 400 years before the building of Rome Hercules was first attributed the foundation of city. In 3rd century BC Carthaginian Hamilcar Barca (father of Hannibal) rebuilt the city and named it Barcino after his family. After 15 BC Romans redrew the town as a Roman military camp. In starting it was a small town but gradually grew in wealth and consequences. Some important Roman ruins are placed in Museum.

Places worth to see:
Barcelona has many parks, beaches, and museums to visit. It has 12 historic parks, 5 thematic parks, 45 urban parks and 6 forest parks. Montjuic is a largest park with 203 ha located on the mountain of the same name. Ciutadella Park is second largest park which contains zoo and several museums. Since 19th century, due to industrialization Barcelona experience growth in economics.  

Barcelona has several beaches, including barceloneta and Sant Sebastia, largest and oldest of all.

Avinguda Diagonal is the main commercial area of the city. Barcelona has several commercial complexes and sky scrapers.

Languages:
This city has two official languages Catalan and Castillian Spanish.

Weather:

Generally January and February is coldest month and July and August are hottest month.
