Looking for an action packed trip? Whistler in summer is top notch as this legendary outdoor activity haven springs into life during the warmer months.

With summer just around the corner,When a Mates’ Break to Whistler is Just the Ticket Articles now is the time that you need to start planning a big getaway for the boys. For the active types, you will want a destination that is, essentially, a nature playground where you can have adrenaline-fuelled fun in picturesque settings, before hitting the town for a few beers in the evening. If this sounds like your kind of break, then I highly recommend visiting the epic Canadian town of Whistler in summer.

Home to the legendary Whistler Blackcomb ski resort, this is an incredible destination that offers year-round action and adventure in awesome natural surroundings. Here is just a sneak peak at what your sunny Canadian mates’ break could entail:

Mountain Biking on Top of the World

This extreme alpine biking trail is sure to get your blood pumping! Beginning up in the heavens atop Whistler Mountain, the ride descends a whopping 5,000 feet and links with the regular Bike Park before finally finishing in Whistler Village (be sure to finish with a cold pint!). Although you may be tempted to tear through the trail, I recommend that you take your time and stop off for some food along the way. This will allow you to take in the incredible views of Whistler in summer, where you will see dramatic jagged peaks,  azure blue lakes and the imposing Black Tusk dominating the skyline.

A Zinging Ziptrek Tour

One of my favourite activities to recommend anyone visiting Whistler, the Ziptrek tour is an adrenaline-inducing aerial adventure that is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In addition to the thrill of soaring through the crisp air, you also get outstanding bird’s eye views of the thick woodland below and spectacular scenery. There are six different tours to choose from, including an exhilarating “Twilight Tour”, which takes place under the starry night sky! Each tour also has an intriguing educational component, enabling you to learn a thing or two about the amazing surrounding environment.

Summer Skiing and Snowboarding on the Glacier

Despite the fact that this will be a summer getaway with clear blue skies, warm sun and stunning wildflowers, you can still enjoy winter sports in the Whistler mountains. Ever wanted to ski in shorts and a t-shirt? This is possible on the Horstman Glacier, which is atop the 7th Heaven Chairlift. This is a unique and fun experience, plus there is also a cool hut that serves up delicious BBQ food, cold beverages and offers sublime views of Garibaldi Park - perfect.

These are just three fantastic activities that you could get up to during your mates’ break in Whistler. In summer, this is an amazing outdoor nature playground and there will never be a dull moment.
