Whenever you create a website, whether alone or under guidance of a web developer, there are a few specific elements you need to keep under check for an effective web design. The main focus and objectives of a web site are to assist the sales model of the company. Companies usually demand flashy graphics and extra boost of textures and over the top visuals to make their content appear eye-catching and unique. The result is usually the opposite, if the right web designer does not guide the clients in the correct graphical direction.

If you ask any website design company in India, they will all vouch for the fact that the expectations of the clients aren’t only unjustified but more often not feasible or practical.

DO: Make the Pages Easy To Scan

People want quick results. Virtually no one is going to wait around to figure out what and where the content on your website is. The best method to deliver the desired results for the viewers is to provide a properly scanned copy of all the information that you host. Use of proper alt tags and H3 tags prove to be highly beneficial to focus on the relevant details. To make the copy bulletproof,The Do’s And Don’ts of Web Design: What Works and What Doesn’t Articles you can also use images, quotes, and other media content.

DON’T: Write Long Passages

Most of the people which come to your website do not read the entire text but rather scan through it, a.k.a. speed-reading.  A recent study found that people have a habit of reading in the F-layout, wherein the text is arranged to vaguely resemble the letter F-formation for easier reading of highlighted buzzwords.

Sometimes, certain writers write a 1,000-word paragraph providing no paragraph breaks, immensely infuriating the readers. It’s a general consensus that paragraph breaks aid reading and make the experience for the reader pleasant.

DO: Set a Proper Navigation for Your Website

The use of colors and CTA buttons play a major role in the navigation of a website. A crisp and concise navigation goes a long way in not only supporting the aesthetic value but also the usability of the website. A well-regarded navigation uses a conveniently placed search bar for easy access and a de-cluttered UI.

DON’T: Practice the Art of Keyword Stuffing

Google indexes content based on the keywords you file it under. The algorithm is constantly updated to streamline the tweaks and bugs. It is basically as difficult to fool Google as it is to fool the readers. If you plan on stuffing baffling amount of keywords in a short passage, which will typically make the content feel forced and spam intended, be prepared for not only losing visitors in large numbers but also running the risk of a penalty or worse, a ban from Google itself.

The writing should be clear and to the point without distracting from the objective of the content. As a well-established web designer Mumbai – based, I often urge clients to hire a professional copywriter for their copy and content requirements.
