Sure,Cleaning Upholstery in your Buckhead Apartment Articles you dust, vacuum, scrub the counters and the toilets, but how often do you clean your upholstery?  Well, if you have pets maybe you feel that it is too often.  But in an apartment, it can be a necessity.  Lots of dust, pet hair and dander can live in your upholstery and cause allergy attacks to flare up.  And with the onset of the winter, you will be spending a lot of more time indoors.  It's important that you keep your Buckhead apartment allergen-free.  Here are a few tips for cleaning upholstery that will cut down on all the fuzzy stuff.
    1) The window treatments.  Curtains, valances and blinds are all regularly neglected in most apartments.  It is important to vacuum and dust these to make sure that it is not trapping dirt, small bugs, dust and pet hair.  I have a steam cleaner, which was relatively inexpensive and easy to use, with which to clean my window treatments.  I usually like to vacuum the curtains beforehand to get off any loose particles.
    2) Furniture.  Any upholstered furniture is subjected to dogs in my house, so it has to be vacuumed regularly.  I usually wash any stains with regular soap and water so as not to wash out or bleach any color from the furniture.  Also, I would recommend slipcovers for sofas whenever it is appropriate.  They are easy to slip off and machine wash.  Make sure to use gentle cycle and detergent, however, to prevent fading.
    3) Shower curtains are also largely ignored.  People know to replace or wash the plastic liner once a season, but often they forget about the shower curtain.  That shower curtain is subjected to a lot of moisture and dirt and should be washed every so often to prevent bacteria.
    4) Small things like lamp shades, toss pillows and seat cushions on barstools should also be vacuumed with a hand tool every week or two to prevent accumulation of dust and allergens.  Once you clean these things and make sure your air filter is clean, you will begin to breathe right again.
