They come without the pricey salon visits and complicated attaching procedures that can potentially damage your natural hair. To get a start on applying your own hair extensions, make sure that you have a good set to begin with. So once you have your extensions, here’s what you do with them:

1. Make sure they’re washed, dry and completely untangled before you insert them into your own hair. A matted look is the last thing you want. Your own natural hair should also be washed, dried and untangled for better results.

2. Clip your locks up leaving a horizontal parting about 1.5 inches above the nape of your neck. Comb through this layer of hair and select the longest weft of hair extension.

3. Firmly but gently secure the clips of the extension into the layer of natural hair as closely to your roots as possible.

4. Let down another section of hair and use it as the next layer to which you’ll attach the second longest weft of extension. Section and attach as many times as you find necessary until you have the right volume and desired style.  

5. Once you’re finished. Blend the extensions in with your natural hair using your fingers. Remember not to comb through any curly or wavy hairstyles otherwise they’ll lose their intended shape. Also avoid using silicon based products since these threaten to help the hair extension clips to slide out.
