Louis Vuitton, A Passion for Creation Exhibition, Hong Kong’s 17th Annual French May Art Festival, Marc Jocabs, Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince At the time of Hong Kong’s 17th Annual French May Art Festival, an exhibition entitled Louis Vuitton – A Passion for Creation is held from May 22nd to Angust 9th at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. This exhibition aims to present Louis Vuitton’s long history and significant creation together with different artists in different art domains. The works of art are carefully selected from the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Creation and several significant large-scale works by European, American and Chinese artists.
At the time of Hong Kong’s 17th Annual French May Art Festival, an exhibition entitled Louis Vuitton – A Passion for Creation is held from May 22nd to Angust 9th at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. This exhibition aims to present Louis Vuitton’s long history and significant creation together with different artists in different art domains. The works of art are carefully selected from the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Creation and several significant large-scale works by European, American and Chinese artists. These reflect an urban and energetic culture, leading to fictional landscapes, somewhere between dream and adventure. Exhibiting artists include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Paul Chan, Cao-Fei, Yang Fudong, Gilbert & Georde, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Andreas Gursky, Pierre Huyghe, Jeff Koons, Bertrand Lavier, Christian Marclay and Richard Prince as well as other newly discovered international artists.
The Hong Kong Museum is wrapped with the “After Dark” series of Richard Prince which create a new landscape of art to the panoramic Victoria Harbour of Hong Kong. The inside exhibition is divided into three parts to showcase different aspects of Louis Vuitton’s activities and projects in the artistic domain. Part one, named “Louis Vuitton and Art”, includes its heritage and the collections collaborated with comtemporary artists, such as Marc Jocabs, Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince. The second part presents the architectural model of the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Création’s building. To be erected in Paris, the building was designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. The third of this significant exhibition is dedicated to contemporary art, which is a selection of works from the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Création. It will provide the opportunity for Hong Kong audience to discover important works by twelve major contemporary artists from the US, Europe, and China. In addition, the works of seven young Hong Kong artists is featured in this exhibition.
