* You should undergo several examinations to determine if you have a medical condition that could increase your risk of complications.

* You should stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin, and certain herbal supplements and vitamins that can aggravate bleeding for at least a month.

* You should prepare all the creams, medications, special garments that you will need during your recovery period.

After doing these preparations, your doctor will also consider the following factors to determine if you are a good candidate for liposuction surgery.

* The condition of your skin. Ideally, your skin is elastic and does not have stretch mark which is a manifestation of laxity.

* Your emotional health. Because doctors use a strict patient selection method, you are most likely to be turned down if you have psychological issues and suffer from depression, extreme mood swings, and body dysmorphic disorder (a condition in which sufferers imagine a defect in their body).
