The designer imagined the Pompadour – a woman who captivated the notoriously dissolute French king with her beauty, taste and charm – reading poetry in her boudoir, its walls hung with toile de Jouy. This lovely fabric, so named because it was first produced in the workshops of Jouy-en-Josas near Paris, has long been a source of inspiration for Vivienne Westwood, for whom the scènes gallants it frequently depicts are the quintessence of the 18th century spirit – risqué, refined and exquisitely sophisticated.

This romantic fragrance is as subtle and sensual as the original Boudoir, but with a fresher signature, top notes of Red Berries and Mandarin Zest, mingled with the lush green scent of Bamboo Sap. In the heart, the smooth, powdery notes of Orris are freshened by Red Peony and Jasmine Petals, evoking the texture and colors of toile de Jouy.  The dry-down blends crystalline white amber with mellow cashmere wood.
