When someone dies and the Lord sees fit to return that person to earth as a living worthwhile human,To Heaven and Back: A Doctor's Extraordinary Account of Her Death, Heaven, Angels, and Life Again Articles one may consider that person lucky, while other would consider her blessed; blessed or lucky or both, here is a life that will never be the same again.

It all began as any other outdoor vacation begins for kayakers or white water rafters; they take to the water and begin their trips down river. But, something happened on a trip to kayak a river in Southern Chile to Dr. Mary Neal.

Dr. Neal had a kayaking accident when her kayak slipped underwater and began slipping over the edge of a waterfall. Dr. Neal's kayak fell and was pinned for several minutes underwater as her rescuers tried in vain to get her out. When they did, she was clinically dead, having spent too long underwater.

But, something happened in the time between her drowning and her reawakening alive. In her book "To Heaven and Back", Dr. Neal details a life-altering story where she realizes she has met the Divine, only to realize it wasn't her time yet. While she was making this transition between life, death and life after death, Dr. Neal dealt with her surroundings, communicated with angels and experienced a special sadness when she found that it was not her time to go to the Lord.

But, her trip to the Lord and back changed her life forever and made her a different woman than when she left on her kayaking trip.

One thing she gained was a new understanding of why she was placed here on earth and why she was reawakening among the living. She has gained an awareness of the Divine, only one who has been in His presence. She has also found that her trip through life has been enhanced with a new awareness of the Lord; of what it means to walk in the path of Jesus and she has gained a first-hand experience with Heaven that no one can take away from her.

In fact, Dr. Neal, always a private person, has used her experience to enhance the lives of others.

As a private person, this was a hard book to write, but it was one she believed that had to be written as it will give those who may stray or those who may not feel God's love a chance to realize and reacquaint themselves with the Lord and with our purpose here on earth. If nothing else, it will help a person understand the trip we are making here and our relationship with the Divine. If it achieves little more than that, the reader and the Lord have come out the winners and Dr. Neal has achieved the Lord's aim for her.

It seems that Dr. Neal was returned to help people realize there is a Lord and there is an afterlife and people should not feel a sense of hopelessness but a sense of hopefulness as they make their way through the world.
