How to Make Promotional Mugs a Great Advertising Tool

Marketing and advertising is a major aspect of modern business, yet the traditional promotional gifts such as promotional mugs remain as important as they did in years gone by.

Marketing is a necessary component of running a business. Most businesses can’t get away from advertising if they want people to know about them and their services or products. There are a number of different techniques or strategies for advertising and again, most companies need to invest in several types of marketing activities in order to be successful. One of the most fun advertising strategies is using promotional items, a give-away or freebies.

People love to get something for free thus promotional items have been a very successful strategy for business owners to use. There are some recommendations for using promotional items so you get the biggest bang for the buck though. For the purposes of this discussion, let’s use promotional mugs as the example.

When thinking about promotional mugs, be sure to think about how they can advertise your business to the community because they really can do that! How can they be an advertisement in the community, you say?  Think about this. How many time have you been on the little league soccer or football field on an early Saturday morning where you saw people drinking from warm mugs of coffee they brought from home?

If you haven’t notice, be sure and look around the next time you are there. Many of the mugs people will be drinking from are promotional mugs they received as a freebie at one time or another. When people are talking to each other at these sporting events, they are looking at and reading about the company that gave the promotional mug away. This is free advertising in operation.

Now think about how many times you have gone into someone’s office only to see them drinking from a promotional mug. How many times have you ridden into work on a bus or train and seen people drinking from promotional mugs advertising the business from which they received the mug. One more example of free advertising with promotional mugs, is when you see people in meetings or conferences, they often will be carrying their favorite promotional mug thus advertising for the company that gave it to them.

So, now that it is decided that promotional mugs do get around, it is now time to think about what to have printed on them so they do the best marketing possible. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about printing is having the name and logo of the company printed on the promotional mugs. It is also important to think about whether you want to have any graphics, other than the logo.

Sometimes people are quite pleased with promotional mugs that have a great printed saying or quote. Others like to have a cartoon or joke that fits the products they sell. Still others like promotional mugs that have floral designs or pictures of animals etc. Thinking about what you want to have printed on your promotional mugs is important because you want to draw attention to your mugs so people learn about your business.

You will be able to select your own graphics, quotes, saying, cartoon and pictures so, be ready when you start to make your selection that you know what you want. These variables will play into the size and shape of the promotional mugs you select.

Promotional mugs are a great advertising tool if you take the time to plan what they say on them to make them memorable.
