In the ever-expanding world of affiliate marketing programs,Affiliate Program Differences, Tier By Tier Articles there exist several different types of networks that help determine how the affiliates involved in each particular program are paid. Looking at these different types and the contributing factors that influence their differences can be an excellent way to determine exactly which type is most appealing to you, the novice affiliate or perhaps the seasoned expert looking to change things up.

The first type and definitely the most simply arranged is the single-tier affiliate program. These programs are pretty much cut and dry and easy to understand. Each affiliate gets paid a commission (percentage of commission varies from program to program) each time a sale is made (PPS or pay-per-sale) or when customers are directed to the company site due to leading links placed in a particular affiliate’s representative site (PPL or pay-per-lead). As stated, the percentage of the sale that gets paid out to the affiliate differs from program to program so special attention should be given to sites with higher percentages when making your choice. Higher percentages equal more shares of the profit into your pocket.

The second major type of affiliate program to analyze would be a two-tier affiliate program. In this type of program, in addition to commissions made as direct result of your efforts (PPS & PPL), you are paid for any sales that result from affiliates you have recruited to sign up below you. When these affiliates make sales, they are paid, and you receive a percentage (different from program to program, again) as well. This can become a very lucrative feature provided you have the ability to sign up other affiliates due to your excellent reputation or skills of persuasion.

The third and final type to discuss at this juncture would be the multi-tier affiliate programs. Just as in the two-tier programs, you are paid a commission each time you directly make a sale and when affiliates signed up by you make a sale, but it doesn’t stop there. If your affiliates sign up other affiliates, and so on, the breadth of your earning potential increases as sales happen on down the chain. Theoretically, in a massively deep, multi-tiered affiliate program, you could be making profits based on efforts of affiliates six, seven, eight, or more rungs beneath you. Imagine the ramifications of such far-reaching profits!

Using the Internet as a resource, you should take in depth looks at each affiliate program you are considering before arriving at the one that seems to fit your style the best. As in everything in life, effort and reward go hand in hand, so be prepared to put in your time and the financial reward will surely come.
