After hearing those screechy brakes for too long,How To Keep Busy While Your Car Is Having Brake Repair Articles you realized it was time to take your car in for brake repair. Every responsible driver knows that the stopping devices on his or her car must be maintained in order to function optimally. Without the ability to stop, accidents are literally waiting to happen. So what can you do to keep yourself occupied during this time frame? Here are some ideas:

If you stay in the garage’s waiting room during the maintenance:

Watch TV: Most auto repair shops will have at least one television set in the waiting room. These range from old grainy boob tubes to flat screens hung on the wall. Whatever the type, it will entertain you somewhat if you haven’t brought any other alternatives. If you work all the time, this is your chance to see what’s been happening on daytime TV. If you like soap operas, you’ll be able to catch up on the drama.

Text message all your friends: For as long as your cell phone battery will last, have at it! Text away and catch up on Facebook, too, as long as your phone has internet capabilities.

Read: Bring a book or read the magazines and newspapers in the waiting room. Reading will make the time fly and is good for your brain.

Clean out your purse: Who ever has time to clean out their purse? Well, you do, now. Get a plastic bag from the trunk of your car, start sorting through all the items in your purse and wallet, too. Throw away old receipts, business cards you’ll never use, and anything else you don’t need. When your car is ready, your purse will feel lighter than air.

If you leave the garage during the repairs:

Go for a walk: No matter what the season or the neighborhood, it’s always nice to take a walk. Ask the mechanics how long the process will take and plan accordingly. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and to wear decent walking shoes.

Go out to lunch with a friend: No time during the workweek for a lunch date due to your busy schedule? Take this opportunity to try out a new restaurant or café. If the garage’s in an area you don’t usually frequent, all the better. Have your friend pick you up and check out this neighborhood’s dining spots.

Go shopping: If there are shops within walking distance, go by yourself. Stroll around and amuse yourself with some recreational shopping. If the stores too far away, have a friend pick you up and go have fun.

Go to the movies: Movies take a couple of hours and so will the brake repair. Time it right and you can go to a nearby flick that you’ve been wanting to see. Ask a friend to come pick you up for a matinee.

A brake repair is good for your vehicle and all others on the road. Keeping yourself entertained is beneficial for you. Using a bit of creativity will turn this afternoon into a win-win experience for you and your auto.
