One of the traps that many people fall into when opening their business is the trap of blending in with the crowd. Not only does this occur when choosing a name or a slogan. However, it also occurs when it's time for business owners to actually decorate their facilities. Little do they know that renovating and decorating their place of business is the one place that they are able to be most creative.

For instance, let's say you owned a transmission repair shop. You started your business about a year ago and you haven't yet had time to decorate. Therefore, everything is very basic. The walls are white. The floors are white and the chairs are brown folding chairs. In all honesty, nothing in your transmission repair shop catches anyone's attention. Customers are tempted to fall asleep as soon as they walk in. The good news is that this problem can be alleviated.

For example, you could incorporate a theme into your decor. For instance, if you are fond of racecars, you could get a mural of a racecar painted somewhere in the waiting area. You may not want to choose a specific driver and their car, because you may end up isolated and offending some of your customers who may not be a fan of that specific driver. Nevertheless, you can still infuse this idea into your shop. Another way to incorporate this theme is by hanging up pictures, paintings and other forms of memorabilia. Having walls full of interesting pictures and memorabilia can pique the interest of just about anyone, even if they aren't really into racing.

The next thing that could be done is the inclusion of magazines and books that are in line with your theme. Of course, all of the readings don't have to necessarily deal with racecars. However, a majority of them probably should.

Using a specific theme is just one of the many ways that someone can decorate their transmission repair shop. There are numerous other ways that this can be done. However, the most important thing to remember when decorating or making renovations to this type of facility is to keep the customer in mind. This isn't to say that someone can't add their own personal flair. However, in the pursuit of adding this flair, owners must also remember that their customers are the ones who ultimately have to like the space. So, although they may be set on something, there needs to be room for flexibility. This way the owner can aim to please his desires as well those of his potential and current customers.
