The Buick Regal is undergoing a change for the better right now! The new Regal GS model just came off of a strong sales year where it outsold many of the competing models from other brands and is now being fitted with a new automatic transmission. The vehicle’s new transmission is already available at our dealership! And later this year the GS will undergo a remodel for the 2013 year wherein GM will be implementing the new eAssist technology as a standard feature on the Regal GS.

The new Buick Regal GS is being called by some the “Best Upscale Midsize Car for Families.” Before this new update the GS had a six-speed manual transmission. But now the GS is being offered with a six speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control as a no-cost option on the vehicle at purchase.

“With the Regal GS,New Drivetrain on the Latest Buick Regals Articles we made a conscious decision to go against the current trend and give enthusiasts the manual transmission they desire as standard equipment” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing. “Adding an automatic simply makes the performance of the GS even more accessible.”

The GS’ automatic transmission is the new Aisin AF40 automatic and is calibrated specifically for the GS. The vehicle has an interactive Drive Control System which can be set to “GS” mode. The GS mode will cause the transmission to shift more firmly and aid performance. The automatic will also accelerate just as well as the manual does by going from zero to sixty in just under seven seconds.

The GS can also boast an excellent fuel economy at nineteen mpg in the city and twenty seven highway. All other standard and optional features on the GS remain the exact same regardless of whether the customer chooses manual or automatic transmission. Recently the GS was placed on the Hagerty insurance “2012 Hot List,” which lists vehicles which they expect to become collectibles in the future.

In addition to the current 19/27 fuel economy, the GS will sport an estimated 36 highway mpg with the introduction of the eAssist for the 2013 model. The eAssist will aid the vehicle by adding an electrical boost at low speeds and on inclines to aid in fuel efficiency.

“Buick is committed to increasing innovation across the lineup,” said DiSalle “By making the advanced eAssist powertrain standard on a second vehicle, we are putting the spotlight on smart technology.”

The eAssist technology is already available on the LaCrosse luxury sedan and became a standard for the 2012 model year on that vehicle. The eAssist is becoming THE hybrid technology this year, as it has already sold out all of its competitors and experts expect it to grow even further in popularity. The price and sale date for the 2013 Buick Regalwith eAssist will be announced later this year.
