The Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association,2012 APPEA HSR and Safety Workforce Forum Articles known as APPEA, is an Australian industry association representing companies which explore and produce oil and gas in Australia, a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent as well as the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. And since it is a trade association, also known as an industry trade group, business association or sector association, it is an organization founded and funded by businesses that operate in a specific industry. They are also a non-profit organization.
APPEA was originally established in 1959 and previously used the acronym APEA. It is the peak national body representing the collective interests of the upstream oil and gas exploration and production industry. The Association has more than 80 full member companies that explode for and produce Australia’s oil and gas resources--fossil fuels which are formed by natural processes such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms.
These companies currently account for an estimated 98 percent of the nation’s petroleum production. In addition, APPEA also represents more than 220 associate member companies that provide a wide range of goods and services to industry.
APPEA works with Australia’s national, state and territory governments to ensure the country’s regulatory and commercial framework promotes investment and maximize the return to the Australian industry and community from developing the nation’s oil and gas resources.
This event is the only safety forum programmed with oil and gas health and safety representatives (HSRs) in mind in Australia. It provides a unique opportunity for them to network, enhance their skills and share their own safety experiences, solutions and best practice.
Like the previous events, the HSR of the Year Award shall be presented at the forum. It recognizes people within the industry who have been excellent and have stood out in their contribution to the health and safety of their fellow workers.
