A New Beginning

by John Calder

I am not known for "beating around the bush",A New Beginning Articles so I will get right down to it.

Many online entrepreneurs, business owners are killing their credibility by the amateur way they are running their online business.

Literally millions of them set up shop on some free website host with some godawful web address that no-one will ever remember, uses the free web builder, sets the background color to blue and has red text.

Argh! My Eyes! Turn it off!

(You all know who you are).

Once said site is setup with all the latest spinning graphic gizmos and centered text, that no one can read anyway, and of course the obligatory banners that are forced onto the site, said "business owners" set about promoting their creation.

Go straight to free submission services and happily put in their details and send the link to a zillion search engines, directories and FFA's.

And wait...and wait...and wait.

Well you know how it goes...I'm not going into all the "ins and outs" of promotion. My website has all that information for anyone that needs it.

Time To Get Serious.

To succeed online you MUST have the bare essentials.

These being:

*your own domain name ( http://www.domains410.com )

*a reliable host ( http://www.aplushosts.com )

*a listserver, so that you can send unlimited non-spam email to prospects and customers (with host)

*an autoresponder (with host)

*a clear plan - if you do not have a clear idea of what you want to do online, wait until you do.

If you do not have these essentials, you CANNOT succeed online, ABSOLUTELY CANNOT!

I talk to a lot of people online, the professionals and not so professional with their own domains and custom designed websites.

I also talk to people without their own domain names and I always ask, "Why?"

Usually it is the same answer: "I'm just doing it this way until I can afford my own domain name and professional hosting."

Sheesh!

Domain name cost = $10 or less per year
Hosting = All singing, all dancing $5.95 per month (depending on company)
Design = Pricing varies ( I recommend http://www.jumpx.com )

You CANNOT afford not to people!

If I talk to an online entrepreneur who either does not understand the tools she/he needs or will not acquire them, then I know I am talking to a person who is 100% CERTAIN TO FAIL.

Don't Fail

Stop fooling around online. The Web is superb for business, if you approach it correctly.

Make 2002 A New Beginning and start it off with BANG.
