So - a strange question. and an obvious answer? Maybe. But the fact is that an alarm system will differ depending upon where it is located. The alarm system that you use within your home will most likely have similarities to an industrial one. But your needs as a private home owner will be different. As a home owner your aim is to protect not only your family but also your belongings. Any intruder is most likely to be a 'one off' burglar. burglaries of private residences tend not to re-occur. At least not by the same person!

On a commercial level we certainly need to think about other possibilities. The intruder may be an opportunist after anything he can find. This will definitely include money or product etc. but could include files or data or even important information. There will also be every possibility that they will try to commit their crime without attracting attention after the event. At home you will be aware of the disappearance of personal possessions almost immediately. But will a warehouse manager notice if a few products disappear? Yes - eventually. But at what point? Probably not until some time later.
So a break-in at industrial premises could well re-occur. And as happens so often it may not be discovered - ever! And very often this is because of members of staff who have access to the premises. They may be key holders or just know how to get in. Plus there are arsonists,Avoiding problems with your commercial alarm system Articles vandals, kids or drunks who are simply there to do damage for the sake of damage.

So an alarm system is a means of alert - making someone aware of the situation in a way that suits you and your property. It is quite possible that you still don't find out what has happened until a while later - but at least you are aware.
