The selection of wide bandsaw blades primarily depends on the type of woodwork you generally do. Band saws can be essential to the shop or an ideal accessory to the table saw. There are mainly two types of band saws, the three wheels and the two wheels. As we know that size matters in this case, three wheel band saw provide you a better throat depth compared to a two wheel having the same blade length but they have other issues, which take away from any cutting advantage. Cast iron frames are cheaper and allow you to adjust the height capacity using a riser, but using cast iron parts can results into cracks during usage.
 
Motor size can range from 1/6HP to 1/3HP for bench top and from 1/2HP upward to 3HP or larger on big industrial machines. The bigger the more the easier will be its operations. If you primarily work on smaller crafts or model construction, the smaller tops are fine, but in case heavy applications it is good to go for the big ones such as 1/4HP or larger. Always make sure the table tilt and adjustment works smoothly and does not bind anywhere.
