Even though a fire does not necessarily have a high chance of happening,Fire Alarm Inspection Is Necessary Articles having a fire alarm inspection on a fairly regular basis is essential, especially in businesses and schools. For instance, if an elementary school does not have a working system, then many lives could be lost in the event of an actual blaze. So not only is there an annual or semi-annual fire alarm inspection, but there are also drills. Having drills ensures that all of the students and more importantly, the teachers know what to do in the event of a blaze.

But for high rise condo buildings, the whole thing is a bit trickier. Of course they need to have a regular fire alarm inspection to make sure that all of the machinery is working properly. If they do not have everything working properly and there is a conflagration, then a resident who suffers damages or injuries because of the whole ordeal could definitely sue and would stand a good chance of winning the suit. But there is a question of whether or not it is a good idea to evacuate the building in the case of a blaze. Many condo units are built with doors and units that are made to keep out the flames for up to a couple of hours. If this is the case, then it might be safer to just stay in the unit rather than risk running down the hall and the stairs, which at any point might be covered in flames and therefore deadly. More than that, many buildings have to have automatic door closers installed, another way to make the whole building fireproof. This way, if a blaze starts in a specific unit, when the people evacuate, the flames will be contained in that one unit for many hours. This helps to make sure that the other units will experience the least amount of damage possible. So sometimes, it might be smarter and actually safer to just stay in your unit if the bell sounds telling everyone that there is a fire.

Businesses, like schools, should also have a frequent schedule of fire alarm inspections. Like condo buildings, the workers in the building could take the business to court and win money if the system is not functioning and a conflagration starts and injures them. Another way that businesses are like schools and condo buildings is that often in schools and condos there will be evacuation routes posted on the walls. Many businesses do this too. It is another way to ensure that people get out safely, and a way to legally cover themselves so that people will be less likely to sue them and win a suit. A well working system will go off at the first sign of a blaze and will hopefully be loud enough to alert everyone in the building that there is a problem. Then hopefully, everyone will grab what they can't do without and run out, saving themselves. It's a crucial system to have.
