Many people want to know the key to success. They are so eager to find this secret that they do countless things to find it...

They scour bookstores to buy piles of books that claim to tell the secret.  They buy CDs that explain the secret.  They go to seminars that divulge the secret.  They search the internet,Is Success on Your List? Articles reading about gurus that claim to know the secret.  While no book, CD, seminar or guru carries the secret to your success, the secret is the search.  The quest.  Seeking the answers, constantly asking questions and improving yourself is the secret to success.  You cannot fail if you are genuinely trying to succeed, believing that you will, and following some kind of systematic plan for how to achieve a clearly defined outcome.

One way to remain on track in the quest for success is by making lists of goals, daily and long term.  By making a list of your daily and long term goals in a journal or on a notepad you will remain focused on your tasks and on your dreams.

Your daily goals should be things you want to accomplish that day, things that you must check off.  I am not referring to brushing your teeth or clipping your toenails or your daily workout routine.  These are simply your daily activities.  Your daily goal sheet should list the things you need to do to keep yourself moving forward towards your larger long term goals.  They are things like: calls you need to make, meetings you need to set up or have, documents you need to prepare, review, summit or send, analysis you need perform, decisions you need to make, material you need to read, skills you need to hone or attain and other similar deliverables that will keep you on the path of the success you seek.  When you accomplish one you should check it off, and relish the sense of satisfaction that comes with doing so.

Long term goals are your dreams.  If you want to be on the Oprah show one day, put that on your list.  If you want to get a book published in a year, write that on your list.  Although these goals might feel farfetched today, if you keep working on your daily goals you will remain on the path to success.  Each day your daily list of goals should take you one small step closer to your long term goals.

Success comes in many forms, but to have it you must work toward it everyday with clear goals and strategic objectives that you are committed to accomplishing daily.  For more information about how you can create more success in your life, visit www.flourishingbusiness.com.
