You will still need to keep your shelves stocked with 99 cent store items.  Your customers will come to your store looking for this type of merchandise.  If they do not find those items you can imagine the result.  They will likely take their business to one of your competitors.

With the nature of business the way it is nowadays you will not be able to survive indefinitely if you only offer 99 cent merchandise.  It is important for you to offer dollar plus items as well.  Doing this will help you earn enough profit to keep your doors open.

In the old days it was pretty easy to stay in business with just 99 centstore items.  Although this type of merchandise has always presented the problem of having tight profit margins, you could usually overcome this by selling in higher volume.  Nowadays, this is virtually impossible.

All of the costs associated with offering 99 cent store items have gone up and they look as if they will keep rising in the future.  No matter how many items you sell, you likely will not be able to make much of a profit if you do not have dollar plus items on the shelves.

You will need to pay higher wholesale prices for your 99-cent items in the future.  In addition to this you will likely need to pay more in freight costs too.  If you are not careful your profit margin will be non-existent.

It should not be too hard for you to find dollar plus items to add to the stock already on your shelves.  Just like you can find suppliers to buy your 99cent store items from, you can also find suppliers for your dollar plus items.

There are a range of closeout and liquidation suppliers to will provide you with merchandise you seek.  As you have already learned it is becoming harder and harder to stay in business.  Some other store owners will likely not be lucky enough to stay open, so you can think about buying their excess merchandise.

The dollar store environment has changed.  Although more and more people are shopping in these stores prices are steadily rising higher.  You will need to think about offering dollar plus items to supplement your 99 cent merchandise if you want to stay open.
