Secondly; people believe that a person doesn’t remember a thing that takes place under hypnosis.

However, that again is a false claim as while a subject is in hypnosis he remembers all that has happened during that time. It might look like a dream to some subjects; however they will still be conscious of it and remember it. It is also possible that the subject might have a fading memory of that time but still it will be enough to make the subject know what happened while he was hypnotized.Thirdly; people think that a person can be hypnotized without his will and once he is hypnotized he can’t resist it. Unfortunately regarding this misconception many hypnotist show that they have special power due to which they have hypnotized the person. However in reality there is no such power. Hypnosis can’t be done without the consent and the co-operation of the subject. Hypnotist has only the amount of control that you allow him, which usually is following his direction to reach the state of relaxation and peace. Hence, throughout this procedure one can anytime attain mental concentration and break free of hypnosis that is no big deal.

Fourthly; people think that once under hypnosis a person obeys whatever he is told which again is not the right belief a person under hypnosis still can make decisions and do whatever he thinks is the right thing to do, one cannot make him do something that he doesn’t want to do.Fifthly; people think that not everyone can be hypnotized. The question in hypnosis is not about will you be hypnotized? It’s about that will the subject allow himself to be hypnotized or not. Fear of losing control of themselves is what doesn’t allow many people to get hypnotized; however, everyone has the ability to be hypnotized as it’s a natural process and everyone enters it at least twice a day. Apart from these there are many other misconceptions among the people, however these were the common misconceptions present among the people regarding hypnosis.
