Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of program management for specific programs. This includes prototypes, pre-production samples, production start-up, customer launch, and monitoring the overall program throughout production.
  • Coordinate all engineering changes for assigned programs.
  • Assist in resolving quality concerns as required.
  • Keep management informed of the status of assigned programs on a regular basis. Inform management of any critical items on an immediate basis.
  • Act as liaison between customer and company.
  • Ensure that customer contact is maintained through visits to customer facility as required.
  • Be involved and provide technical support on assigned product launches both within the company and at the customer.
  • Investigate, analyse, and present cost saving proposals to management and then to customer.
  • Ensure that all correspondence pertaining to projects are tracked and distributed accordingly.
  • Ensure process and manufacturing feasibility studies are complete for products to meet customer and engineering specifications.
  • Prepare internal quotes for new and existing programs and all engineering changes. Submit for review and approvals, prepare customer breakdowns, and review for completeness.
  • Assist in the preparation of quotes. Work with purchasing in procuring quotes for current and future cost saving proposals.
  • Establish program-timing parameters and ensure that schedules are maintained.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in either engineering or tooling.
  • Automotive background an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of APQP processes and core tools.
  • Previous training in the following areas: CAD, GD&T, FMEA, and SPC.
  • Knowledge of assembly, weld, toolroom, and press shop equipment.
  • Familiar with customer quality systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (i.e. Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing to travel on a regular basis as required by the company and customer.
