However,QNET points out factors hurting Direct Selling in India Articles there are some companies who have not remained true to the ideals and values advocated by this line of work. Their misdeeds have deprived people of benefitting from the lucrative opportunities offered by this profession. Another factor that is not allowing the progress of direct selling is the lack of an effective legislation. Prominent network marketing company, QNET’s stance is that due to the absence of efficient laws, legitimate companies in this field are undergoing losses.

Multilevel marketing plays a vital role in boosting the economy of a country. It provides recession proof opportunities to individuals, who can try out their strengths and reap from the benefits. QNET’s franchisee in India, Transview Enterprise India Pvt. Ltd added to the comments and stated that because of the above mentioned problems, the country has lost out on a good share of GDP. This is generated through direct selling. Chief Executive Officer, Dave Osh says, “By not having a proper structure, India is losing a major contribution to the country's GDP. Direct selling model will be the next industry addition to India's GDP... Surprisingly, we do not have a legislation in a big country like India.”

This network marketing company has contributed to the growth of various economies like Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan in a significant way. Recently, the company hosted its flagship event, V-Malaysia 2013. The event drew a crowd of 6,000 entrepreneurs. The tourism sector received a boost which in turn accelerated the progress of the economy.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Indian franchisee of this network marketing company said that nearly 4,000 to 5,000 direct selling businesses were operating in India and most of them are not legitimate. They are cheating people of their hard earned money. Because of the absence of a strong legislation, genuine small and midsized companies are facing losses. The need of the hour is a legislation that will put an end to the scams that are being committed in the direct selling model. He also laid emphasis on the requirement of a strong action that would put an end to such cons.

People have often pointed fingers at the success of network marketing across the globe. Mr Osh cited the example of Vietnam that has a proper structure in place. Aspects such as compensation, plant standard, product quality and marketing have been taken into consideration while drafting laws regarding this business. He says, “We are launching our brand and products in Vietnam next month. It is a very strict and a communist country. There is no FDI and they are very poor. Still, Vietnam has a very well-regulated structure for our kind of business model. ”He stated that QNET generates annual revenue of nearly USD 500 million.

In the present day, expenses have burnt a hole in people’s pockets. Network marketing has been a boon to people. They have explored their strengths and benefitted from the potential filled opportunities.
